Central Florida 40th Annual Show!

Sanford, FL – Under clear blue skies and extremely warm Florida sunshine, the British Car Club of Central Florida hosted its 40th annual British Car Show the first weekend in April weekend in Sanford, drawing car enthusiasts from across the region for a celebration of British automotive excellence.

The event brought together about 80 cars, a stunning variety of classic and modern British vehicles, from sleek Jaguars and elegant Bentleys to vintage MGs, Triumphs, and spirited Minis. It’s amazing that this show has reached its 40th birthday, with some of the attendees reminiscing about the early days of the event.  It was great to see the veteran collectors and young enthusiasts join, each with a shared appreciation for the craftsmanship and history of these iconic marques.

“The turnout this year was fantastic,” said a representative of the British Car Club of Central Florida. “We were blessed with beautiful weather, and the collection of cars on display really highlighted the passion and pride of our local British car community.”

The Central Florida British Car Club was founded in 1983 by a group of six passionate enthusiasts—Tom Curren, Stan Pfost, Dan Friend, Roy Wilton, Tony Roth, and Al Schneller. Their shared vision was to promote the enjoyment of British cars, both on the road and in the community.

More than four decades later, the club continues to thrive with a vibrant membership and a deep love for these iconic vehicles. To foster continued interest and appreciation, the club hosts a variety of social events, including monthly gatherings and, of course, their signature All British Car Show. Their goal is simple and joyful: to drive their British cars as often as possible and to share the experience with others, keeping these timeless machines in motion and in the public eye.

Among the highlights of the show was a truly impressive lineup of Jaguars, drawing admiration from every corner of the venue. Delilah Davis, widow of original founder Tom Curren, showed his 1952 XK 120 C-Type.   This car raced in California in the 50’s and Daytona in the 60’s.  Tom purchased the vehicle in 1981, where he brough it back to Daytona as a Vintage Racer in 1987, 1988, 1989, winning in both 88 and 89.  In the category of Historic Racecars, it was both a Regional and National Concours Champion with JCNA.

There were also several beautifully maintained E-Types, Series I, II and III all represented.  Alongside these classics were several modern performance icons, including a striking collection of XK coupes and convertibles, known for their refined luxury. F-Types, both coupe and roadster, added a modern edge to the lineup with their aggressive styling and throaty exhaust notes.  Congratulations to Jim and Jill White of Jacksonville Florida who took home first place with their striking Green XKR!

The event served not only as a showcase of timeless automotive design but also as a social hub for car lovers. Attendees strolled through rows of meticulously maintained vehicles, chatted with owners about restoration stories, and enjoyed the lively atmosphere complemented by music, food and drink in Henry’s Depot, and local businesses.

A standout this year included a collection of Rolls Royces from the 50’s and 60’s, majestic in their presence and fully decked out inside and outside.  Nearby, a vibrant row of Austin-Healeys and Lotuses added flair and color, while the sight of vintage Land Rovers reminded guests of Britain’s rugged utility roots.

The event emphasized community as much as it did cars. Organizers from the British Car Club of Central Florida ensured a welcoming experience for newcomers and long-time members alike. With enthusiastic support from sponsors and local volunteers, the show continues to be a much-anticipated tradition in Sanford’s annual calendar.

Farewell to Legends: Bruce and Faith Retire from the British Marque After Decades of Devotion

As we all know, after decades of unwavering dedication, boundless passion, and a love for the open road and the written word, Bruce and Faith—beloved editors of the British Marque Car Club News—are retiring. Their names have become synonymous with the publication itself, woven into its very fabric over the years, and their departure marks the end of a remarkable era.

For countless car enthusiasts, the British Marque has been more than just a newspaper. It has been a community, a storyteller, and a monthly celebration of the quirky charm, elegance, and history of British motoring. And at the heart of it all have been Bruce and Faith—champions of the Marque and tireless stewards of its voice.

They brought a unique blend of journalistic excellence and personal warmth to every edition. Faith’s keen eye for detail and Bruce’s editorial flair made for a seamless collaboration that defined the tone and integrity of the paper. As they step away from the editor’s desk, Bruce and Faith leave behind a legacy measured not only in issues published but in friendships made, memories shared, and a community sustained. As we wave them off into their well-earned retirement—hopefully with the top down and the wind in their hair in their mini—we do so with full hearts and deep gratitude.  Thank you for your support over the many years of “media credentialling”!  Enjoy the ride ahead.  See you in Stowe!
